Becoming a real estate agent in Florida involves a specific set of steps and requirements. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process of becoming a licensed real estate agent in the state of Florida:
Meet the minimum age requirement: In order to apply for a real estate license in Florida, you must be at least 18 years old.
Complete pre-licensing education: The state of Florida requires all aspiring real estate agents to complete 63 hours of pre-licensing education before taking the state licensing exam. This education can be completed through a state-approved school or online course provider.
Pass a background check: The state of Florida requires all real estate license applicants to undergo a background check, which includes a review of your criminal history and financial records. If you have a criminal history, you may still be eligible for a license, but you may be required to disclose this information on your license application.
Take and pass the state licensing exam: After completing your pre-licensing education, you will need to take and pass the state licensing exam. The exam consists of a national portion and a state portion, and covers topics such as real estate law, real estate principles, and real estate practices.
Apply for a real estate license: After passing the state licensing exam, you will need to apply for a real estate license through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
